Happy Thursday!

What a fun day!
We began our day with school photos in the auditorium, then snacks and morning circle time.
In the morning we did a number sense activity where JKs had to count the goggling eyes before gluing on the silly monster. They all had fun doing that. We are learning how to use the liquid glue without making too much mess! :)
Next we read a stories and shared what our costumes will be for Halloween.
In the afternoon JKs had French class and we played a number sense game again which involved placing value. JKs counted the spiders in order to match to the correct number.
Next we worked on a language activity where JKs had to cut and paste matching the lower case letters with the upper case. We are practicing identifying the Bs and Ds. Those are tricky letters to remember! :)
After second lunch and recess we had Art class, Daily Five - read to self and pack up.
Have a great evening everyone!
Enjoy the cute pictures today!

Happy Wednesday!

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
The special helper has a spooky pointer this week...take a look:

In language arts we spent a little bit of time finishing our writing assessments. For those who finished on Monday, they had a worksheet to practise letter formation. Next, students worked on dry erase boards and we had the daily five - read to self.

In the afternoon we watched a short video about how to put our coats on. You may watch again with your child, here is the link: https://youtu.be/HpS4M9J1eZM
I like Crawford the Cat videos as it is very instructional and practical.
We all tried to copy Crawford the Cat when we had to put our coats on.
Next JKs had French class and we worked on a couple of hand eye co-ordination activities, where students had to use the bingo dauber to fill in the circles and also practice their scissor grip to cut along on the lines.
After second recess, we worked on an activity involving numeracy. First students completed the activity for numbers 1-5, then if they finished they could advance to the next activity for numbers 5-10.
To finish the day off we had a couple of brain breakers (songs and dance).
Have a great evening everyone and stay warm! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Today we began the day with Gym class with Mr. H., Art class with Ms. Kerr, snacks and morning circle time.
In language/math we made a spider booklet. Before we did the booklet, we looked into some pictures of spiders on the computer. Students were curious about different types of spiders.
When making the booklet, students practiced their reading and numeracy skills.
After first lunch and recess, we had the daily five - listen to reading and French class.
Next, we had our daily five - letter work, where students learned the name, sound and formation of the letter K. We sang our phonics song.
JKs practiced the letter formation on their handwriting without tears workbook.
After second lunch and recess, we had centers.
This week we are having activities involving Halloween theme, next week (after the 31st) we will begin a new UOI and a new unit on math.
Have a great evening!
