Happy Friday!!

We had a great day, even though the weather was not that great today!
We began our day with gym. We had to have gym in the classroom today as the gr. 10s were using the gym for their projects.
Next, we had snacks and morning circle time.
Then we completed our journals where JKs copied the following sentence: "This is my family." I'm so proud of my kiddos, they are remembering to start the sentence with upper case, use of finger spacing and end the sentence with a period. These are all good habits to get familiar with.
In the afternoon we completed a couple of math worksheets that dealt with numeracy.
JKs then had French class and the daily five - read to someone.
To finish off the day we had centers.

Happy Thursday!

Today we had a great day!
We began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next we worked on our journal. Today JKs could choose one from the following sentences: "Up goes a kite.", "Up goes a plane." or "Up goes an umbrella."
We reviewed our sight word of the week: UP.
In the afternoon we had story time, played hot potato, had French class and worked on beginning sounds.
After second lunch/recess we had math centers.

Happy Wednesday

Today we began the day with gym, snacks, morning circle time, daily five - work on word activity (please see video) and Art class with Ms. Kerr.
In the afternoon we had story time (daily five - listen to reading), French class, journal writing (today JKs practiced copying a simple sentence from the board "This is me.". They used their official journals and were very excited about it!
After second lunch and recess we practiced our numeracy through a fun bingo game and centers.

Happy Tuesday!

Today we started the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next we had the daily five read to someone, where JKs took turns reading simple/short books to me and a couple of classmates.
Then JKs decorated their flowers for our spring bulleting board just outside of our classroom. It will be ready this week. :)
In the afternoon we practiced and reviewed shapes and patterning.
JKs were encouraged to finish the shape pattern.
After recess we had reading buddies with the gr. 4s.

Welcome Back!!!

It was great to see everyone and to hear all the stories about March Break! :)
Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time. During our circle time we shared what we did over the break. It was nice to see my JKs using their manners by taking turns talking. :)
Next, I introduced to JKs what a journal is and how to complete a journal entry.
Before starting using our real journal we practiced on a paper. JKs practiced copying the sentence from the board, using finger spacing, upper case to start the sentence and period at the end of the sentence. They also practiced writing a word phonetically. Today was an easy word, everyone wanted to write the same word: FUN. They had to complete the following sentence: March break was ____.
After lunch and recess we had the daily five listen to reading and reading to someone.
Then we had French and math centers where JKs had the opportunity of making patterns, sorting and counting.
To finish off the day JKs had art class with Ms. Kerr.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we read a story about St. Patrick's and played bingo shape to see who was feeling lucky! :)
In the afternoon we had the daily five - read to self, French class and clean up.
At the end of the day we had a dance party with the PYP (primary grades)!

Fun Thursday!!!

Loved to see everyone showing their team spirit!
Today we began the day with a house game in the gym, then JKs had gym class and Art with Ms. Kerr.
Next, we played a spelling game where JKs worked in groups in order to build 3 letter words using magnet letters.
After lunch, we had math centers, French class and the daily five - read to someone.
To finish off the day we exercised our fine motor skills through a cutting and pasting activity where JKs also practiced their reading skills by matching the beginning sound to the picture.

Happy Princess and Superhero Day!

Everyone looked great today! :)
We began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, JKs completed a couple of activities related to superhero involving patterning.
In the afternoon we read some fairy tales and practiced our writing skills in our Handwriting Without Tears workbook. Next, JKs used the dry erase mini boards for free writing.
To finish off the day we had a house game in the auditorium.

Happy Crazy Hair Day!

What a great day!
Unfortunately the fire truck couldn't come. JKs were very understandable as we assume the firefighters were saving and helping people! :)
In the morning we had gym class, snacks and circle time.
Next, we talked about what does it mean to be a firefighter and completed a booklet where JKs practiced their number writing.
Then JKs attended art class with Ms. Kerr.
In the afternoon, we had a house game, the daily five listen to reading, French class and played with puzzles (JKs had to match the correct amount with the correct number).
To finish off the day we built a fire station together using all sorts of blocks! It looked great!

Everyone looked fantastic in their pajamas today!

 

We began the day with a house game right after the assembly.
Then JKs had gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we colored a pattern pajama template, cut and paste on a construction paper in order to draw our faces.

 

 

 

 

Then JKs had 15 minutes of the daily five - read to someone.

In the afternoon we had math centers where we practiced numeracy, sorting and patterning.
JKs attended French class and right after 2nd recess we watched a movie!

Very Cold Friday!

Today we started the day off with gym class, Art class and morning circle time.
Next JKs presented their Transportation project. Everyone did great!
In the afternoon we finished the presentations, had French class and played bingo.
To finish off the day we had the students from other classes visiting our classroom to see the projects.
