Happy Monday!

We had a great day!
In the morning JKs attended Gym class with Mr. H., snacks and morning circle.
Next we worked on our second writing assessment of the year. JKs do the writing assessment once a month, so we can track the progress. In our writing assessment JKs are encouraged to trace and write the upper case and the lower case letters.
Next, we had our daily five - read to self. I'm very impressed with how much my JKs love reading this year. :)
After lunch and recess we had French class (today with a sub teacher) and we read a book together titled "Go Away Big Green Monster".

 

 

After reading the book we created our own friendly monsters.
After second recess we had centers.

Friday!

Despite the weather outside, we had a fun day inside! :)
In the morning we had our calendar time led by the special helper and snacks.

Then we worked on our clay self portrait. I really liked the final result!

In the afternoon we had French and Art classes. In math we worked on numeracy and sorting through our centers.
To finish off the day we had the daily five - read to self and reading to someone.

Art Class

Rainy Thursday!

Great day today!
We began the day with morning circle time, snacks and some dancing in the class, since we didn't have class with Mr. H. We made sure we still did some physical activity.
In language we worked on our book Handwriting Without Tears where students practiced their penmanship.
In Math we worked on a numeracy activity where students had to count the treats and match the correct number. Next we had sorting centers!

Today we played musical chairs and students attended French class.

Wednesday!

Today we began the day with gym, morning circle time and Art class.

Next we worked on letter identification for the letters M and H.

After lunch we had our daily five - listen to reading and French class.

After French we worked on a simple graph as a class. Then students were instructed to complete a fall graph, take a look at the picture.

After second recess, we had some extra outdoor fun as the weather was beautiful!

To finish off the day we had our daily five - read to someone.

Fun Day!

Today we started the day off with gym, snacks and morning circle time.
In the morning we worked on our Handwriting Without Tears book, writing the letters H and M. This was our daily five - work on writing. We learned our new phonics song and met our animal friends: Mickey Monkey and Homer Horse.
Next JKs had the choice of writing on dry erase boards or read a book.
In the afternoon we worked on our Math unit on sorting. Today students helped me sorting big and small pictures.

Then, they tried on their own, by cutting and pasting the pictures into the correct category.

Next, for our UOI we had some outdoor exploration time where we made a pile of leaves, looked into some snails we found outside and played tag.

To finish off the day we had story time.

We had a great day!
We began the day with morning circle time and snacks.
In language we worked on the following beginning sounds: w, y and n. Students had to cut and paste pictures matching the correct beginning sound.
While students were working on this activity we had reading groups. Reading groups will happen more frequently as JKs are becoming more familiar with letters and sounds. The reading group is part of the daily five program - read to someone, students work in small groups and are encouraged to sound the letters and/or blends with my support.
In Math we did a sorting activity as a class, everyone had a lot of fun! Take a look at the pictures.
Today JKs attended art and French classes.
