Happy Wednesday!

Today we began the day with gym class, morning circle time and snacks.
In language JKs worked on beginning sounds by cutting and pasting the beginning sound of each animal.
Next, JKs had the daily five - listen to reading.
After lunch and recess, we worked on numeracy. Students were asked to count the bugs and write the correct number. Then JKs also worked on a graph, they counted each type of insect and filled in the graph.
Next, we had the opportunity to watch the Oakwoods Disney presentation. JKs did a fantastic job as the audience.
After second lunch and recess, we had centers and we visited the baby chicks.

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next JKs had the daily five centers where they worked on building words using magnet letters, alphabet stamps and alphabet beads with pipe cleaner.
After lunch and recess JKs read a story together as a class and then had the daily five - read to someone.
Next, JKs had French class and then practiced our dance for Arts Night.
After second lunch and recess, JKs had reading buddies and we had the chance to see the baby chicks one more time before they leave to a local farm.

Today we began the day with morning circle time and snacks. Next, JKs completed their journals.
In the afternoon we went to Mr. Iqbal to see the chicks.
Jks also had art and French classes in the afternoon.

Happy Thursday!

Today we began the day with gym class, morning circle time and snacks.
Next, in language/UOI/math we worked in teams in order to categorize animals into: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and insects. With some assistance, JKs did fantastic!

After lunch and recess we worked on numeracy. Students had to count animals in a set and using the bingo dauber they dabbed the correct number.
Then JKs had French class and story time.

After second lunch and recess, students had math centers.

Happy Humpty Day!

Today JKs began the day with gym class, art class and morning circle time. Next, we completed our journals.
In the afternoon we had story time, and then JKs did a math activity where they had to count the objects in a set and then circle the number correspondent.
After French we worked on our animal project. Today we cut the pictures and sorted them into animal categories. Then after second recess, JKs had reading groups and centers.

We had a great day!
In the morning we had gym class, snacks and circle time. During our circle time, we shared something exciting we did over the long weekend.
Next, in our journals we used the alphabet center. JKs copied the sentence from the board: "This is a ____." And then they had to find in the alphabet center a word/picture to finish the sentence.
We are still practicing good habits of writing skills at a JK level: start the sentence with upper case, use of finger spacing and end the sentence with a period.
We will also continue using the spelling bee words in our journal writing or/and in class games and activities. We don't want students just to memorize and forget the words in a couple of weeks. :)
In the afternoon we looked into reptiles and amphibians. JKs completed an activity where they had to cut, sort and paste different types of animals into "reptile" and "not reptile".
To finish off the day we had centers.

Today we began the day with gym class, morning circle time and snacks.
Next, we worked on an sorting animals into categories activity. JKs had to cut and paste pictures of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.
In the afternoon we had the daily five - read to self, French class and dry erase boards to practice writing short words.
After second lunch and recess, we practiced our song for arts night, packed up and went outside for the water balloon. I'll post some pictures later in the evening.

We had a great day!
In the morning JKs attended Gym and Art classes.
Next, we had our morning circle time and the daily five - read to someone.
In the afternoon we had Math. Today we looked into the Canadian coins and its values. JKs got to play pretend market in the class.

After French class, JKs practiced their arts night dance.
To finish off the day we had the Track and Field awards ceremony.

Today we began the day with the SJA Annual Spelling Bee. Everyone did fantastic! We will continue to use the cvc words in class, in our journals and through games.

Next, we had morning circle time.
After lunch and recess we worked on our journals. JKs wrote 8 words in their journals and they were encouraged to draw one of those words.

Then JKs attended French class and we started our mini math unit on coins. JKs learned a song about the Canadian coins. Tomorrow we will be playing pretend market, so students can get familiar with the coins.

After second lunch and recess, we had centers. We also finished the writing and reading assessments today. :)
