Cold Thursday!

What a change in the weather!
Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
In language we played a game where we had to match the words with the pictures. JKs worked in pairs for this activity. Next, we took turns sounding and trying to write words on the board.
After lunch and recess, we had the daily five listen to reading, read to self and French class.
To finish off the day we had centers.

Happy Wednesday!

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks, morning circle time and art class with Ms. Kerr.
After lunch we watched the primary grades present their poems along with our sister school: The Maples Academy. St. Jude's received most of the medals which made us teachers very proud! :)
In the afternoon we completed an activity that dealt with numeracy. JKs had to cut and paste the missing number.
Next, JKs attended French class.
After second lunch and recess, we had centers.

Shrove Tuesday!

Today we began the day with a pancake eating contest between the houses during the morning assembly. KIP won!

 

 

 

Next, JKs had snacks and morning circle time.
Then we worked on our penmanship skills using our Handwriting Without Tears workbook. JKs had some time to draw a city with roads and signs on a big cardboard paper. They loved it! Take a look:

After lunch and recess we had the daily five listen to reading and had a little bit of time for centers right after French.
After second recess we had reading buddies.

Happy Monday!

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we had different 2D shapes to glue together and make a house. JKs worked on details of their houses and it turned out great!

 

 

After lunch and recess, we had the daily five listen to reading and reading to self.

 

Then JKs attended French class. Next, we played musical chairs just as a brain break! :)

To finish off the day JKs had Art class with Ms. Kerr.

Happy Thursday!

We had a busy day today!
We began the morning with gym class, Art class and morning circle time.
Next, JKs had the daily five read to self and reading groups. Again reading groups is when I gather 2-3 students at time to practice good reading strategies.
After lunch we used magnet letters to help us build words.

Then JKs had French class and we practiced numeracy by looking at the number in the jar and placing the correct amount of manipulatives.
After second recess we read books and packed up. Btw second recess was fantastic! +19 and sunny, have never seen my little friends so happy! :)

To finish off the day we all sat in the auditorium as an audience to practice for tomorrow. The three students from our class who are going to compete tomorrow, also had the chance to recite  their poem on stage with the microphone. Good luck to them! :)

Foggy Wednesday!

I hope everyone had a safe drive this morning!
Today we had gym, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we read a story about bullying: "Bullies Never Win"
Then JKs paired up to play a game where they had to match the picture with the beginning sound/letter.
After lunch we had the daily five - read to self and read to someone. Next, JKs had French.
After second lunch and recess we had centers where students explored manipulatives with the objective of developing fine motor skills.

Happy Tuesday!

We had a great day!
It was nice to hear what everyone did over the long weekend!
Today our day was a bit different because of the poem presentations.
In the morning we had gym class and then the poems presentation. Ms. Blair carefully listened to each students' presentation. Everyone did a fantastic job! Here are the top 3: Simrin, Samara and Ezzah.
Next, JKs had art class with Ms. Kerr.
After lunch we used 3D shapes to build a tower and/or a castle.
To finish off the day we listened to our phonics song and practiced writing lower case letters on our HWT workbook.
