Happy Monday!

We had a great day!
The weather was perfect and lots of learning happened today!
In the morning JKs had gym class with Mr. Mac., then we had snacks and morning circle time.
Next we completed our journal writing. JKs practiced starting the sentence with upper case, use finger space and end the sentence with a period.
Next we had reading groups.
After lunch we visited Mr. Iqbal's Science Lab. where he hatching chicks. He explained to the JKs how is the process and what to look for in the next couple of weeks.

JKs then attended French class and we completed an activity involving living and non living things and we also learned a song titled: "The needs of an animal".
After second lunch JKs had story time and art class.

Today our day was a bit different!
In the morning we had gym class and the talent show. These boys were very cute:

After lunch we worked on a collage. JKs had to cut and paste from magazines pictures of living and nonliving things. It was messy but super fun!

After second lunch the fire fighters came for a visit! :)

Rainy Thursday

We had a fun day!
In the morning we had gym class, art class and morning circle time.
After lunch we worked on an activity where JKs has to cut and paste picture of living and non living things.
Next, we checked our beans and watered them.
After second lunch and recess we had centers.

Action!

We have a lot of action taking place around the school! Vishva in Ms. Hung’s Grade 3 class, recently became an Earth Ranger is holding a battery drive until Friday, April 7. Please bring in any old batteries and we will pass them along to Vishva.

 

Happy Wednesday!

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we completed our journals. JKs had to complete the following sentence: "I like _____."
Then they had some time to practice writing the sight word of the week: YOU.
In the afternoon we played a game where JKs had to work in groups in order to sort pictures into living and nonliving things.

 

 

JKs then attended French class and right after French we had math. Today in math students had different-length strings on their tables. Then each child picked a string and tried to find an object in the classroom that was longer, shorter and about the same length.

 

 

To finish off the day we had reading groups and centers.

Happy Tuesday!

Today we began the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we took a look at our bean germination experiment and the special helper watered each cup.
In the afternoon we played some games using the computer in order to sort living things and nonliving things.
Then JKs had French class. After French class we played a game where JKs had to organize toys from shortest to tallest.
To finish off the day we had centers.

We will be holding our Talent Show this Friday, April 7th, with a variety of performances from SJA/Oakwood students in JK-Grade 6! The event will begin at 9:30 am and is expected to finish by 11 am.  

Friends and family are welcome to come watch this entertaining event to show support for the students who are performing in this year’s show.

Happy Monday!

What a great way to start the week with a fun science experiment!
Today we started the day with gym class, snacks and morning circle time.
Next, we had the daily five - read to someone.
Then JKs prepared their beans for our "bean germination" experiment.

We also talked about living and non living things and what do living things need to live and grow.
After lunch we completed our journals and worked on an activity where JKs had to color only the living things pictures.
After second lunch and recess we talked about our new math unit. JKs lined themselves up by height. Ms. Chin came to inspect if JKs did a good job! :)

Then we finished off the day with centers.
